Overview

A vice is a fundamental mechanical device used to hold workpieces securely during machining operations such as drilling, milling, cutting, or sawing. This project focuses on designing and fabricating a pneumatic vice that uses compressed air to provide fast, efficient, and consistent clamping. By automating the clamping process, the system enhances ease of use, precision, and overall machining productivity.

Concept

The pneumatic vice operates using a cylinder powered by compressed air. When air pressure is applied, the piston moves to clamp the workpiece firmly, ensuring consistent force and stability. Releasing the air pressure quickly disengages the clamp. This eliminates manual tightening, reduces time, and delivers uniform clamping pressure, making it ideal for repetitive machining tasks.

Why Pneumatic Vice?

• Faster clamping compared to manual vices
• Provides uniform and consistent pressure
• Reduces operator fatigue and manual effort
• Enhances machining accuracy and productivity
• Simple operation and easy integration into workshops

Applications

• CNC and manual machining
• Workshops and fabrication units
• Production and assembly lines
• Educational and training setups
